Pictorial coverage of installation of Manus Islands first EMTV
transmitter.

| In July this year a technical
team from the Communciations Division travelled to Manus Is to install
the Provinces first TV Transmitter broadcasting EMTV. The project
was funded by the community of the Lombrum Naval Patrol Boat Base.
A 20mtr mast was erected next to a Satellite receiving dish. The signal
from the satellite receiver was routed to a 5 watt UHF Television
transmitter. The high gain antenna system provided an excellent coverage
throughout the Lombrum Base as well as being received in Lorengau,
15 kms away. |

Preparation
for the mast erection. The ropes were borrowed from the deck of
one of the Patrol Boats.

It was all hands on deck at Lombrum to lift the
20 mtr tower.

The Satellite dish installed next to the tower
and transmitter housing.
