1970's
This period was a time of consolidation. Apart from the Food lines which were promoted , there was a dabbling in a range of Fashion garments. This included Womens and Childrens clothing with a smattering of Menswear. However both of these areas were being overtaken by the Hardware and Electrical products. So it was decided that the focus needed to be in this direction.
Mr Joe Taylor decided to retire in the early 70s and moved to Brisbane. The other partners had also moved on and Mr Bob Taylor assumed the reins in Port Moresby. The Rabaul office closed in the mid 70s as there was less need to focus on BCL. However the activities in other parts of the country were on the rise and needed extra attention.
By Independence in 1975 , the company had become more active and successful. There were still many challenges and staff numbers had grown to about 12. But, of course, there was more to come. Once again the direction began to alter from the traditional product ranges. |
